— Six Word Saturday —

.
my Six Words (X four):
The old nag out to pasture
.
Did us right to the end
.
We may have to put her down
.
Replacement horse in the stable
.

Her pasture is a resting place for now at the body shop parking lot.
.
She was strong and heavy or we may have been seriously injured by the raging bull, a Ford F-250 truck. She was injured very badly herself. [SHE is our 2006 Cadillac DTS. We bought her fully grown from a little old lady when she was a young two-year-old filly.]
.
The body shop barn manager said she was in such bad shape that we may have to put her down, being beyond repair. The estimator should be able to give his opinion on Monday.
.
We had to fill the head spot in our stable with the older Pony, shown below. This horse is also a thoroughbred mare, a 1998 Mustang GT Convertible. It is my personal car which I got for myself as a retirement present. She also was young when we got her; that was back then in 2000.  She will not stay in this spot.  Hers is over by the wall in the same barn.
.
You can see another night-time picture when we were hauling (dragging) her in. I blogged about the accident in my prior post (scroll down or click here).

Blue Bell is My Favorite — My Alphabe-Thursday — "N" — Things in a Row — Two Questions —

I'm not sure how to make an "N" out of this picture.  "O" yes, for Ouch.  "A" for Accident or "W" for Wreck and that is what happened to us last night.

Our Interstate, I-45 north of Houston, is under construction and our entrance was on to a two lane portion.  We were dumped on and the three cars ahead of us had to stop for heavy traffic on the Interstate.  I stopped also behind these, about two car lengths back so I could ease on to the highway when those ahead had gotten on.

The pickup truck behind us was coming fast and did not stop until after plowing into us.  Our car is a mess, the police said it would probably be totalled.  The wrecker driver who took us home with the car in tow thought it would be fixable.

Oh yes, Mrs. Jim and I are sore but probably are okay.  We will see in the morning.  I am sure we will be stiff.  My chin hit the steering wheel and bled a little and my neck is some sore.  The EMT's took us into the ambulance and checked us out.  We declined going to the hospital.

No, "N" today is for Naughty.  I am Naughty because I had my letters mixed up and posted for "I."  Maybe I could blame the accident for this but at any rate, I will leave the rest of the post for "I's."
.
My I would have been for ice cream. Blue Bell Ice Cream made in a little creamery in Brenham, Texas. The delivery truck drivers eat all they can and then sell the rest.
.
These cartons were at our local H.E.B. sale last night. I knew Ice or Ice Cream would be my "I" letter and were glad we could go. Even though our dog food, kitty litter, and a pack of strawberries were in the trunk of our car that could no longer be opened.
.
— The display sales freezer full of Blue Bell Ice Cream was posted here especially for Pat's Things in a Row. .
— I posted for Alphabe-Thursday 'N' assignments with Miss Jenny at the head of the class. You can find her by clicking here.
Thursday Two Questions: (See Thursday Two Questions by Self Sagacity for more reading. You could also make your own by checking in at this link.)
.
..
My Two Questions for this week (you can answer just one if you wish):
..

1. What is your favorite Ice Cream flavor?
Mine used to be Blue Berry Pecan Pralines and Cream.  That was until I had to start watching my cholesterol more closely.

2. What is your most remembered or most interesting Ice Cream eating memory?
I remember eating with a wooden spoon out the the little Dixie cups in which ice cream was frozen.  This was most often at our country school when a picnic where the community was invited.  I think the ice cream was donated.
.
Bonus Question: Do you have a favorite brand of ice cream?  What is so good about it?
Blue Bell of course for us in Texas and surrounding states.  It goes as far north now as Missouri.
.
A Funny:  The young man who plowed into us said he was worried because we had KP's car seat in the car and he was afraid we were hauling a baby.  Then said we could have been his grandparents.

Thematic Photographic 209 - From behind

.

From behind here refers to getting in back of
your subject and taking the picture.
.
These four pictures all have vehicles of which I have taken their backsides.  The first three also have the backside of a human being.
 .
The occasion for the first three was the July 4 (2012) Marines Parade at the Woodlands, Texas.  The Woodlands is a planned community suburb just north of Houston.
..
There were a lot more former Marines, many of which are retired, than active duty ones.
.
.
.
.
.
.

Here are a couple of Fords' backsides.  On the left is a 1951 Ford Club Coupe which participated in the parade along with its owner, a retired Marine.  Did you notice that I caught a couple of human backs in this picture.
.
The other car is a black 1950 Ford Convertible that belongs to my friend.  Both have been rescued and restored. (You can click on any picture for a larger view.) I drove two retired Marines in my 1998 Ford Mustang GT Convertible also and was following the car in the top photo (picture link)
.
Carmi, from "Written Inc blog" says "shot from behind" is the word for the week!

(Tuesday) Morning Post / MidWeek Blues

.

No, this isn't San Francisco.  Nor is it Kokomo or Aruba, Jamaica, Bermuda, Bahama, Key Largo, or Montego either.
For my Midweek Blues I picked this picture I took of Grenada back in 2009 as we pulled into port.  [Queen Mary 2 Cruise posts]

Rebecca runs the MidWeek Blues meme over here (click) .
This week my blue item is the Blue Caribbean Sea here ahead of the town.

Now the news, sad in a way as we will miss this fellow:
Scott McKenzie, singer and song writer: Died Saturday, August 18, 2010 (born January 10, 1939) at the age of 73. His most famous song was "San Francisco (Be sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)" [sung by Scott link][lyrics link]

Do you remember --
Scott McKenzie's 'Kokomo'
Sung by the Beach Boys in 1988?
Hear it sung (here)

[ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsfreak.com/b/beach+boys/kokomo_20013920.html ]

Aruba, Jamaica ooo I wanna take ya
Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego baby why don't we go

Jamaica off the Florida Keys
There's a place called Kokomo
That's where you wanna go to get away from it all

Bodies in the sand
Tropical drink melting in your hand
We'll be falling in love
To the rhythm of a steel drum band
Down in Kokomo

Aruba, Jamaica ooo I wanna take you
To Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego baby why don't we go
Down to Kokomo
We'll get there fast
And then we'll take it slow
That's where we wanna go
Way down to Kokomo

To Martinique, that Monserrat mystique

We'll put out to sea
And we'll perfect our chemistry
By and by we'll defy a little bit of gravity

Afternoon delight
cocktails and moonlit nights
That dreamy look in your eye
Give me a tropical contact high
Way down in Kokomo
.
Aruba, Jamaica ooo I wanna take you
To Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego baby why don't we go
Down to Kokomo
We'll get there fast
And then we'll take it slow
That's where we wanna go
Way down to Kokomo

Port Au Prince I wanna catch a glimpse

Everybody knows
A little place like Kokomo
Now if you wanna go
And get away from it all
Go down to Kokomo

Aruba, Jamaica ooo I wanna take you
To Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego baby why don't we go
Down to Kokomo
We'll get there fast
And then we'll take it slow
That's where we wanna go
Way down to Kokomo

Aruba, Jamaica ooo I wanna take you
To Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego baby why don't we go
Down to Kokomo
We'll get there fast
And then we'll take it slow
That's where we wanna go
Way down to Kokomo

Aruba, Jamaica ooo I wanna take you
To Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego baby why don't we go
Down to Kokomo
We'll get there fast and then we'll take
it slow That's where we wanna go
Way down to Kokomo

Excerpted from Jim's Little Blog, Monday, February 16, 2009 (link):
[This is a part of a work in progress, more will follow (I hope). Click here to read what else I have posted about our Holiday at Sea.]
This was a nice thing to do. Our ship was to be in the port at St. Thomas for about six hours. Follow me:
First, turn the volume up and you can hear the little waves. What you see is 'Beach Bum Jim' of Jim1Jim1 walking the beach in front of the Westin Hotel, St. Johns Island. Then he picks up the camera and pans up and down the beach. Not much excitement but you can see and hear the action at the Westin Hotel Beach. (link to Jim1Jim1 YouTube) .
St. John's Island is mainly a tourist place. For the geography buffs, more than half of the island is a park. (link) With an area of 19.61 sq mi, it is smaller than our Galveston Island here in Texas. The population is only 4,197 permanent residents.

Word of the Week:  precipice
.
------
.
Frog and two flowering plants remained.
The others had fallen into the new precipices.
Stony Shell saved these after the quake.
What next?
