It's June Bug! . . . . . . . . . . . No, It's April (2007) Bug!!?

This one's Karen's car, it's
a 1982 or so Pine Wood Derby Racer
.
Karen did most of the work, Mrs. Jim and I were consultants for her.
.
She won first place. Of course technology has improved since then so it probably couldn't keep up with the modern cars. Dad was the chief speed advisor for her project. Mrs. Jim did the fashion painting advice. Karen did [most of] the work.
.
Please enlarge the picture by clicking on it so you can see the driver pretty good. The driver is a piece of lead fishing weight, carved to precision weight with the car weighing 1 ounce less than the maximum.
.
The paint is acrylic blue with a red, green, and blue butterfly on the hood. There's a rainbow at the rear, and some green growth with a flower on the deck lid. If we were smart, we could have sensed a tree-hugger growing up here with us.
.
Weight distribution is 63% in the rear wheels, 37% up front. The uplift in the back functioned better than a spoiler in keeping the car hugging the track surface. Many cars tipped and fell off or tumbled, hers went straight down the slotted hill track.
.
Also compare it with Cliff's grandson's car (link for enlargement, link for Tuesday, April 24, blog post with the picture and write up). His car did good too!
.
It would be interesting to race these two cars now, '82 model vs. '07. Twenty-five years difference!
.
Bets, anyone?

ANSWER TO SPEEDOMETER QUESTION
..

The speedometer picture in Mondays blog was taken of my Mustang.

The picture above was posted on my February, 23, 2007 blog (link). I said:
I'm so glad it's spring again! So is my little Mustang. This was the first warm-weather, top-down, day of 2007.

[I don't want you to worry about that white garage door paint on the bumper. I have some latex paint remover that takes it right off. I've been there before, done that.]

A NEW FRIEND

Tumaini Kids!, (link to this special blog). It was picked up by Blogger's Blogs of Note blog (link) Monday, the 23rd. It is written by the kids at the school, most of whom are just now learning English.

Here is what it is all about:

Some of the stories are soooo touching. These kids are literally rescued from the depths of deprived kids and given a second first chance for a solid life.

A few of my favorite posts there: April 25, "My Day" by Margaret, age 10 (link); April 24, Chris, 17, "Poem" by Chris, age 17 (link); and April 19, "Wednesday" By Edwin M. [age 8] (link).

Or just go see them all (link), there aren't too many yet, the blog is just getting started good. It could use your encouragement.

.

SEO

Bloggers are blogging about SEO (or seo) now-adays. I have now idea what in the world this is. Some could show me to a quick update, please. Unless it is immoral, then forget it.

Another Full House, Ones on Sevens. I should hurry to Vegas!

I have "Sevens on Sixes," what do you have?

Should I have should said, "I'll show you mine if you'll show me yours?" A 'call' might have been in order?

Now, I'm not much a poker player but I do know this is a pretty good hand. A Royal Flush, a Straight Flush, or a Four of a Kind will beat this Full House, as will a higher card Full House, say 'Kings on Sixes.' [
Link to 'Ranking of Poker Hands' site]

Now I've had a lot of fun putting the last 27,000 or so miles on, it had 49,000 plus when I got it back in 2001. For a nine-year old car ['98 model], this isn't too bad.

Since we see that 150, you might ask if it has ever been there or faster. I don't know the answer to that, I don't know how fast the LOL (Little Old Lady) who had it before me made it go.

I do know it gets pretty close to that pretty fast and still wants to go more. There may be an electronic shutdown but if so it must be over the 150 mark.

Can you tell by looking at the speedometer what kind of car it is, without looking back at my blog posts or because you know me and this car?

This car is my retirement present to me from me. Before, I had an old Dodge 600 convertible that needed a lot to keep it presentable.

There were two reasons to get a convertible. First, since I had gotten drafted and had to sell my first convertible, I never got the urge to sun out of my system. I had to sell it because my car payments were more than my Army pay.

Secondly, I have not gotten the motorcycle urge out of my system either. But this convertible is much safer. I call it an old man's four wheel motorcycle. That works for me.

Earth Day 2007

Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator.
